Sean pointed out to me yesterday that he's a big baby now. I mean, we know he is now 13 1/2 pounds, but when you compare how little he was in his baby seat as a newborn, to how his feet nearly hang off the seat now, it's such a huge difference in only 2 months.
As much as I love to cuddle this little guy, it's not a very restful way to sleep. You are constantly waking up to check on him - have my blankets accidentally come up high enough to cover his face? Will I roll over and squish him? So last night I decided to try him in his own bed, in his own room again. Previously this had not worked out - he would sleep for maybe 45 minutes then wake up again. We put him in his crib at 10:30 pm and he didn't wake up until 4 am. I woke up a bunch of times and got up to check on him, make sure he was breathing and set my mind at ease. And the 4 am wake up was mostly me harassing him to wake up because my boobs were sore and I wanted him to eat! I figured that there was no way he would go back to sleep after that feeding, but tried it anyway. Lo and behold, after putting him down for sleep at 4:35ish he slept until 6:50 am! Ye gods! What will I do with myself now? I slept a great comfortable sleep in my own bed, with my husband and the dogs that hog the blankets and it was wonderful. I woke up to a happy, smiling, chatting baby who let me get some breakfast before he started showing any signs of hunger. This is truly one awesome baby.
Yesterday was a bit of an odd day for him, so I'm hoping that last night wasn't just a tease, and that I can repeat this performance tonight. I know this is riveting news, so stay tuned to see how our next sleeps turn out.
