There are good days and bad days, but luckily for us most of the days are good days. Calvin sleeps anywhere from 1.5 hrs to 4 hrs between feedings, though the norm is 2 hours. It's a half hour event each wake up time to change and feed, which I'm given to understand is fairly fast. The sleep has been a challenge for me, while I adjust to not getting any. It's just naps. Napping in your own bed at night is enough to make anyone cry, so I'm seriously considering just moving downstairs to nap on the sofa between every feeding for the next six months.
Feeding is going great. I make good milk, in good quantity, and can even pump a bottle once in a while (though I find it difficult to do very often). Calvin drinks great from the bottle and it gives Sean a chance to feed him (and therefore burp him, and thus for Sean to experience the delights of baby puke all over you). Speaking of that, apparently babies are either pukers or non-pukers. We have a puker. He likes to drink like an attack dog, then throw it all up, then start eating all over again. Sounds like an 18 year old with a drinking problem. We'll spend the next 17 years trying to get him to not eat like this, then he'll discover beer and we'll be right back at square one. Only I won't clean up the mess then. Something to look forward to!
Grandma Newark came down for a week to help take care of us all and she tolerated us pretty well. The dogs were in love with her, though I am not sure that she felt the same quantity of affection for them in return. They are cute, but big when crawling on the lap of a Grandma.
This past week has seen Calvin starting to practice his smiling. It's so cute! In addition he is now a flailing baby - learning that his arms and legs are part of his body and that he can move them at will. This also marks the week where he is making new baby noises and they are adorable. He makes us laugh. We have some professional baby photos done now - showing a bit below for everyone's viewing pleasure. Enjoy!
