Calvin's words are coming fast and furious now. He seems to hone in on particular words he likes for reasons known only to him, and repeats those ones over and over. He can suddenly say a lot of things if I ask him to. Half my day I spend saying "Calvin can you say ....". It's so cute! His little voice repeating words. Avocado is his new 'funny' one since it is a tongue twister for a toddler. He grasped suddenly that something is hot and if it's food, you blow on it first. He will say 'hot' when he sees steam.
Seems like such a small thing to report, but in a world where your primary means of communication has been pointing, grunting and crying, these words are all major breakthroughs. We got to the point where we could ask yes or no questions, which made life a lot easier. Do you want banana? Avocado? Toast? Having a yes or no made us all happy. But to skip the guessing game is a huge advancement in communication. Gymnastics has helped him immensely with learning how his body functions, and he is a climbing machine now. I have to monitor him at the park as he tries to climb up the ladders in the big kids section. I'm pleased and terrified all at once to see him do so well physically. I suspect we are in the middle of week two of his eye teeth coming in. I've heard horror stories about how bad these ones are. Calvin has suffered for all of his teeth so far, and his behaviour, lack of patience and sleep patterns certainly indicate that he's not having a fun time with these. Pray for us that they come in fast, so we can all return to happy times and sleeping through the night. I was up so much last night I figured I may as well just adopt another baby since I'm doing the work anyway, then I could have a girl baby too! Sean didn't agree with me (yet). However, I do readily recall increments of less than two hours sleep being a hard mistress and it will be nice to see the end of that. We've been taking a ton of videos lately. Will try to post some on youtube soon. Visit our page at www.youtube.com/wowirmie or use the link on the right hand side.
