I didn't however upload the video or lovely photos of Calvin and from yesterday. We were looking for something new to do, and he was fascinated with the minivan, so we hand washed it. I can't remember if I have ever hand washed a car before. I assume I must have, but I can't think of a time. So the last time I washed a car by hand was probably - never. Suitable then that we decided to hand wash it while it was spitting rain. The things you do to entertain the little people! Calvin started out strong with soaping up the car but then discovered it was much more fun to just splash the bucket of suds everywhere, then jump in puddles. He had fun, I had fun, the car was washed. Lovely!
My dear friend Sarah has a toddler the same age as Calvin. She posted on her blog x number of things to do this year that correspond with her age. Unfair because she is a fit, healthy young woman while I am an old geezer lady. Well - 40. I feel like an old woman now because when I tell mom friends how old I am they say 'Oh. OH. You don't LOOK that old.'. Thanks, I think. When I was 38 and 39 and said my age to them, they said 'Oh.' and moved on. Now it's a shocker. Like asking the price of a zucchini at the farmers market and they say $20. It's sticker shock. I am the sticker. 40 does something to you - you cross a barrier, a point of no return. So, now I'm to come up with a list of 40 things to do this year, during my year of being 40. Harder too when you start with only 6 months left in the year. Perhaps I'll cheat and go up until I'm 41. Seems a fair concession given my old lady status.
1. Go to the Elmvale Zoo. - Done! (Website doesn't have a strike through text option, bah.)
2. Get a costume for Calvin for Halloween and trick or treat at at least one house.
3. Visit my brother before the new baby is born. - Done.
4. Decide once and for all about the dog food business.
5. Go out for dinner without the baby.
6. Sleep in.
7. Give up sugar for a day. - Done. For nearly two weeks. Then I caved.
8. Continue exercising twice a week (go me!).
9. Re-initiate the meal plan - worked so well when I used it.
10. Make garden notes and plan a better veggie situation for next year. Learning more and more each season. -Mostly Done.
11. Visit Santo and Yobo. (And Pete and Ess).
12. Remember friendships are worth fighting for.
13. Visit Hilda and Liam.
14. Take a trip to Belleville (we are on our way in a week and a bit!). Done.
15. Read a non-baby related book. Mostly Done.
16. Stop speeding on Hwy 50. What is my problem already? Work in progress.
17. Roll a panda and give it a fair chance before I declare all melee classes to be crap. Done.
18. Cut back on the complaining. Ruins everyone's day.
19. Tell Calvin all the fun things we did each day, before he goes to bed. (We already do this, but I love it and want to continue it as long as I can. Happy finish to the day.) Done and continue to do.
20. Have a nap with no one waking me up - just waking up on my own. I may not be able to do this until I am 55 at this rate.
21. Finish this list.
Heh. More to come later.
